What is the AI Ethics Policy Forum?

  • ‘AI Ethics Policy Forum’ involves the participation of AI and AI ethics experts from across academia, industry, education, law, and civil society. It seeks to build a social consensus around securing the trustworthiness of AI by fostering discussions on emerging ethical issues resulting from the advancement of AI and its proliferation in society.
  • The Forum also aims to achieve transparency in policy making and to foster consensus by collecting opinions from experts and stakeholders in various fields when developing and implementing major policy initiatives directed at attaining an awareness of AI ethics.
  • The First AI Ethics Policy Forum was launched on February 24, 2022. The Forum discussed key AI ethics issues, including domestic and international trends, voluntary corporate activities to promote ethical AI, and directions for AI ethics education. It also collected input and feedback on major policy initiatives.
  • The Second AI Ethics Policy Forum was launched on April 14, 2023. The Forum is a venue where ethical issues related to hyperscale AI and generative AI are discussed, and where opinions about major policies concerning AI ethics and trustworthiness are shared.
  • The Third AI Ethics Policy Forum was launched on April 18, 2024. The Forum held discussions to address recent global AI developments, respond to advances in generative AI technologies, gather opinions on key AI ethics issues, and explore policy measures to address them.
  • The Fourth AI Ethics Policy Forum was launched on July 31, 2025. In alignment with the enforcement of the Framework Act on the Development of Artificial Intelligence and Establishment of a Foundation of Trust (promulgated in January 2025) and the new government's Sovereign AI Strategy, the Forum will explore ways to strengthen ethical foundations and public trust amid the evolving AI landscape.
