The Purpose of Developing AI Ethics Textbooks
- ‘AI ethics textbooks’ cover the three basic principles and ten key requirements specified in , with the goal of cultivating an awareness of AI ethics in students so that they can grow into citizens who are capable of addressing, in the AI Era, AI-induced risks and issues in a flexible and appropriate manner.

In 2021, the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the KISDI released ‘the Guidelines for the Development of AI Ethics Education Contents’, providing instructions for the teaching and learning of AI ethics that reflect learners’ cognitive level and moral development.

- In 2022, the MSIT and KISDI developed a series of textbooks covering the ten key requirements defined in <the National Guidelines for AI Ethics> that provide cohesive learning throughout the elementary, middle, and high school curriculum (with an emphasis on activities, experience, and exploration-focused learning, respectively). The textbooks were designed in a modular form to allow for complementary use in conjunction with existing basic AI textbooks.

- Elementary school Educate students on AI ethics concepts with a focus on activities to match students’ cognitive level
- Middle school Induce students to experience, from diverse perspectives, ethical issues arising from the use of AI
- High school First teach concepts needed to understand current discussions and trends surrounding AI ethics before encouraging students to learn about them through exploratory activities
